Susan McLellan Plaisted, food historian and Director of Foodways at Pennsbury Manor, will tell the story of gingerbread as it evolved from a mixture of ginger and breadcrumb to its present day form. Original recipes will be used to demonstrate the changes. Light refreshments will be served.
Join us as we welcome Dr. Wayne A. Huss, professor of history and chairperson of the Humanities Division at Gwynedd-Mercy College. Dr. Huss has spent many years studying the impact of the Freemasons on Pennsylvania’s history. Dr. Huss will share his insights on the Masonic influence on the Founding Fathers.
Enjoy an afternoon tea with Martha Washington. She will reflect on her experiences at Valley Forge. She will also relate events from her time as the first First Lady. The event is open to members and non-members alike. We will serve tea and sandwiches. The per person cost for the event is $25.00 for members and $30.00 for non-members. Reservations should be placed no later than March 10, 2010.
