Olive Branch
The Olive Branch was published in Norristown from 1851 to 1857. It represents the views of the overlapping abolition, temperance, and women’s rights movements. Touted as a paper of “moral and political reform,” the Olive Branch chronicles these minority viewpoints in Montgomery County by printing letters from concerned citizens. Local issues, such as the election of judges, and the railroad monopoly, as well as national issues like the Fugitive Slave Act are covered by the paper.
