Mogee was born in 1816 in Ireland. He operated a Limestone Quarry in Plymouth Township.
Mogree recruited Italians from the central areas of Italy and they ended up living grouped together in a neighborhood just outside the borough line; that area came to be known as “Mogeetown,” and is today part of Plymouth Township. Mogeetown consisted of a settlement of houses, Mogee's mansion, a small church, and twenty-two acres of lime quarries offered work to the men of Norristown and Plymouth Meeting.
