George was born in 1842. A Civil war veteran, he was mustered in as a lieutenant in Company I of the 51st PA. He rose to the rank of captain and was mustered out in October 1864 at the end of his term. Later, he was postmaster of Norristown and a former mayor. In 1899, he was killed in the Exeter Train Wreck. George was one of eight brothers that fought in the Civil War.
