Last week, we heard the sad news that Norristown’s own Tommy LaSorda has passed away at the age of 93. LaSorda was born in Norristown in 1927 to Sabbatino and Carmella LaSorda. Last week, as I continued working through the oversize shelves at the back of the archives, I came across this interesting photo of Norristown High School’s summer class of 1917. As you can see, many of the students are holding items. Several are holding straw hats, such as this fellow.
In continuing with our back-to-school theme from last week, I found this article in a scrapbook created by Clara A. Beck in 1918 (1924.7517.001). In it are several articles about a student walk out at Norristown High School in February, 1918.
